Frequently asked questions
Once you’ve logged in using your email address and name, you’ll be able to share your personalized referral link with friends and family via email, text, or social media.
When your referral clicks your personal referral link, they will be able to select the option that best fits their tax prep or bookkeeping needs.
If they choose to file with a tax pro or take advantage of bookkeeping services, they will receive a unique discount code that they will present to their tax pro at time of service to redeem the discount.
If they choose to file by themselves using H&R Block Online, they will select their tax prep filing option and start their tax return with the discount automatically applied.
Once they complete the service with the discount applied, you will be notified of the reward earned within 30-45 days.
For each new client you refer that completes a 2025 tax return with a tax pro at H&R Block or Block Advisors or purchases a 12-month bookkeeping service, you’ll receive a $20 reward. For each new client you refer that completes a do-it-yourself tax return with H&R Block Online, you’ll receive a $10 reward, for a maximum of $300. In order to earn the reward, the referred client must have the respective referral discount applied at time of service.
A new client is someone who did not use H&R Block or Block Advisors to file their 2024 tax return.
A new bookkeeping client is someone who is self-employed, a freelancer or small business owner who did not use H&R Block or Block Advisors for their bookkeeping services last year.
A valid referral is a new client — either an individual or a small business owner — who presents their referral discount code and then completes their tax prep with Block Advisors or H&R Block.
A valid bookkeeping referral is a new full-service bookkeeping client who signs a 12-month agreement.
Your referral will receive $25 off filing with a tax pro, 20% off H&R Block Online Filing for federal returns, and $150 off bookkeeping services.
The offers can be redeemed on the following dates:
Personal tax prep: January 1, 2026- May 31, 2026
Small business tax prep: January 1, 2026 – May 31, 2026
Bookkeeping: Year-round, expires December 31, 2026
